SEVENTY DEGREES...................

Today was the first day of the year that the mercury hit 70 degrees....Yeah! It was beautiful. Soooooooo I dragged my daughter and husband off to the Ann-Arbor Flea Market. It was the first of the season, and was a good turnout for alot of the vendors.

It was good to see alot of people whom I hadn't seen while, we are all coming out of hibernation from this LONG winter.

This is the treasure that I hauled home, I couldn't resist these wonderful shoes. The color is what drew me to them. Then of course the old letters and documents are a MUST for me. They will no doubt turn up on some future creation of Peacock Park Design. The tin type was irresistible find, the fashionable femme fatale with her new "pocket book" I am sure was the envy of alot of women.

This is my daughter, who is hauling home our favorite find of the day! This is the most unique thing I have seen in a long time. It is the rolls royce of picnic baskets. An amazing wicker basket on a custom built cart.

Well.........Needless to say , She planned the entire hour car ride home a picnic for the grandparents to attend. Right down to the dessert.

She spent the rest of the afternoon cleaning and washing the new picnic wagon. She added plates and glasses, wine napkins.

All the guests had arrived so she was ready for the "big reveal". She looked like a parade coming down the driveway, trying her best not to crack a smile.

She placed all trays where they would be best used, and passed out all the utensils.

The dessert du jour was Smores.....who doesnt love a charcoal covered marshmallow??? This is what happens when an 8 year old plans the menu. Kool-aid in crystal with tiny umbrellas, weenies on china, (she let the adults eat steak ) it was fantastic. She can't wait to do it again, but informs me that next time, we need to invite "WAY" more people.

She felt that the cart could use a little color. ( I think she was right) and a touch of whimsy.

HAPPY HAPPY EASTER !!!!

Today is Easter.......What a beautiful morning !

I went out this morning early to hide the treasure on the grounds for the kids to go out and "hunt". The sun was shining and the birds were singing , and the bulbs are all peaking out of the dirt. I adore summer. I know it is just around the corner...........

This is a picture of the Gazebo that rests my beloved "Duma".
Everyone who knows me, knows how much I loved that 250LB Mountain Lion that passed away last summer from old age. He was 18 Years old, and as sweet as they come. Puma's are the only big cat that actually Purrrs , and when Duma purred he sounded like a toyota. I could hear him 15 feet away. His mate is still with me, she is lonely to this day, but has found a new friend in my adopted Bull Mastiff. I have a federal license to raise and rehabilitate large and exotic wildlife. I just dont want to give the impression that I have NO business raising this kind of critter. It is a very big part of my life.

It looked like noahs ark on easter.......My kids were hunting for eggs, followed by a sheep, 2 dogs, and 2 cats....all in a line. (where was my camera???)

GIANT eggs in the yard !!

Eggs are the symbol of Easter....It embodies the idea of a new beginning.......
I love this sculpture it is cherubs with wings hatching from their eggs.

I put eggs EVERYWHERE !!!!!

If there is an empty vessel, its fair game for my attack of the eggs. I think I own every artificial egg in every color. Every year, I just cant resist the new finish, speckles, glass beads, anything in a muted palette and I am sold!!

I found this nest while I was hiding treasure in the trees. and the lonesome blue jay feather had to come home with me too. Of course, the glass covered eggs in a pastel puce green with robins egg blue , well, lets just say I couldnt resist. I think the contrast of all that with the old plastic pieces that this bird chose for construction are fantastic...Even nature recycles.

Round em up , I am in Round Top Texas

The Bluebells are only out briefly in the spring, and I got to see them for the first time....they are blankets of purple blue in fields that are amazingly everywhere!

Here in Round Top Texas on a normal day there is a whopping population of 77 people, but during flea market season it explodes to over 100,000. It is incredible. Stalls and Tents set up in fields running between one small town to another.

The displays were inspiring and the creative juices were certainly flowing .There were so many beautiful items for sale, I wish I had a semi to drag it all home. The cream on cream trend was still going strong, however, I must say, the rumblings from the customers were , they want color in their world, its beautiful to look at in a display, but add a punch of color....ANY color. To live in a monochromatic world seems soooooo sterile and dare I say it??? okay.....Boring!

Picture an all cream/grey room then pick your favorite color....say it's purple. Fade the color to a pastel, add grey, and "Viola" it becomes a focal point....but remains subtle and can still be a washed out version of color. Especially the folks "like me" who live in a snow covered blanket all winter...I dont want to see the same thing inside, outside, etc etc...

SOOOOoooooo. Here are some inspiring vignettes and fun bits that were in my travels at Market...Enjoy......

Now this is a color palette.....wow !!!

Seashells are all the rage. But you dont have to live near the beach, or live in Florida to add the shells to your decor. You can add shells to urns mixed with other items. A blend of shells, pictures, books, plants and pearls will make a stunning statement on any table. The arrangement takes on an almost baroque still life as if once painted by an old master.

The graphics on this guys jeans are great...wouldn't they make a great pillow?

This must be a Texan Catering Bug

This is a unique use for the top of an old birdcage....Let there be light!

This must be a Texas thing???? Fozen Pickles??? Who Knew????

Why didn't I think of this? This is the top to an old birdbath...what a wonderful centerpiece bowl, you can use it on a picnic table and add stones, plants and candles to make an impact at the next barbie. Or, fill it with straw and gingham checked bandanas wrapped around candles and really go for that summertime picnic theme

This is the canopied road that leads away from this wonderful place, the hospitality, the people and the overall charm of this little town has made me feel right at home and already wanting to come back.......
Bye Y'all.....
